About Us...

Summers Island Press is an imprint of Wilderness School Institute, a non-profit educational organization that offers outdoor youth activities, training in wilderness skills, nature studies, and the publication of fiction and non-fiction for ages four through eighteen. It is run by a diverse group of talented people from around the world, all of whom agree that children are our greatest treasure.

They deserve the very best we can give them.

The Happiest Place to Work!

Picture
Each of our team members work from their own home or office and are an integral part of making Summers Island the kind of place every child would like to explore. No matter how old they are. You can peek into their individual work spaces to see how they do what they like so much to do. Have a question to ask? They would love to answer it. You can email them by clicking on their pictures, and they will answer back within a couple days. Why does it take so long? Because here at Summers Island Press, we work on "island time."

Our Wilderness Expert
Jason Graham

Have you ever wished you could go on a wilderness adventure? It takes a lot of training.  And knowing just the kind of secrets our Wilderness Expert likes to share. Go ahead, you can ask him anything. Really.

Cousin Summers
(The Mysterious)

Our most illusive author, who works in the Lighthouse on Summers Island. Is there a connection between those names? Well, um... yes, there is.

Our lady with the  "flaming pen"
Carol Brown

who writes messages straight from God's heart. Her stories are full of little treasures that you can collect as much as you want of. No limits. None. Plenty for everybody.

 Illustrator
Brian Beausoleil

Work that is colorful and vibrant, with a certain storybook pleasure, Brian paints from the heart. With a masters level in fine art and illustration, two years of study with a former Disney animator, he brings a great sense of joy and satisfaction to his work. He has been painting professionally for over thirty years.

 Illustrator
Nada Serafimovic

With a master's degree in book design and illustration, Nada believes children's
books should not only be fun to read, but add something good to their personalities. With an amazing talent for bringing characters to life on the page, she is wonderful at making that happen. She is also the author of our popular BG Bird  series.

Amber Graham
CEO

The person who keeps our feet on the ground and makes all our projects and events run smoothly. Also an adventurer, she is the owner of the 46' sailboat Liberty.

Judy Nunes

Bright colors, delightful characters, and pictures you can get lost in if you stay long and look close enough! Which we always do.

Our Australian authors
Shale Kenny and David Kelly
They bring us our exciting stories from "down under" which are the next best thing to going there yourself. But they take time to visit us here in the U.S., too, so keep watching for their special appearances...you never know when they might be coming to a town near you!

Our newest author
Dale S. Rogers
A pioneer of our PICTURE THIS Activity Books, her delightful Book, Orange Snow is filled with colorful illustrations and includes  fun activities that encourage children to use their imaginations. Dale is also an actress in both musicals and movies, and currently lives in North Carolina with her husband and three cats.

Our Administrators
Lilly Maytree and The Captain

They get their orders from the top, and try to keep everything on track. But mostly, they just keep their hands on the wheel and hang on. Because so far, it's been a really fast ride. Which is all right with them since they love travel and adventure. Good thing. Because Summers Island Press is going places! Oh, yes, and if you're thinking we have a lot of Grahams in this company, yes, we do. It's a great place for families.
