Who in the World?
Cousin Summers (the Mysterious) has been writing stories in a lighthouse on Summers Island for longer than anyone can remember. But it doesn't matter that no one remembers when they started. The important thing is the lighthouse is where they all come from.
You might be wondering where the mysterious part comes in. It is because Cousin Summers is a shy person (and busy, too), who spends so much time writing stories up in the lighthouse that a lot of rumors have started. Which is all we need to say about that, because we know where rumors come from. Sometimes there's a little truth to them, too. Either way, you will have to decide for yourself.
What is known for certain is that Cousin Summers (the Mysterious) does not mind sharing the island with readers who find their way there. Oh, yes, and you will occasionally see Miss Lilly there (the light housekeeper who only does light housework because she writes books, too). She can answer questions you might have about Cousin Summers, but you have to be polite.
Then there's the Captain, who has lived long enough to know something about everything. He talks to anyone who will listen, regardless of whether they are polite or not. There are others on the island, too. But that's enough for now.

Some Mysteriously Interesting Places...
There are a lot of mysteriously interesting places on Summers Island which are a good source for story ideas. If you do much exploring here, yourself, you might occasionally see signs that Cousin Summers has been there, too. However, there are rarely any actual encounters because Cousin Summers only ventures out into public places in disguise. Another reason why most people don't know if "The Mysterious" happens to be a man, or a woman, or just somebody's cousin.
Which is why Lilly Maytree and the Captain stay around to keep things in order and answer any questions that might come up. That is, if they're not off adventuring on the Glory B. At the same time, you are very welcome to explore some of these wonderful places, too, and do a little imaginary adventuring of your own. If you like that sort of thing. In fact, there are quite a few others, like you, who do. Cousin Summers has even been known to leave a note to them from time to time, especially when asked questions of any importance. If you have one of those, just write a note over at the Ask Cousin Summers page. Miss Lilly will quietly slip it under the lighthouse door when Cousin Summers is working away in there. In the meantime, feel free to make some of these places your own favorites. Everybody needs a favorite place to escape to, sometimes.
No matter who you are.
